Five Lands (Cinque Terre) - Madonna del Montenero Sanctuary
One of the most accessible and scenic sacred buildings of the Cinque Terre. The earliest information dates back to 1335, but probably it is more ancient, between the XI and XIII century. The revered original image is lost, the present one is a picture of the end of the sixteenth century restored several times. According to legend, the image was buried by the local believer to save it by barbarians. Upon his return to light, in the place where it was extracted, it raised a water spring. Annual celebration and festival will be held on the second Sunday after Pentecost. - See the Five Lands (Cinque Terre) map with a complete picture set.
